Blue Roses

Blue Roses

Blue roses, often portrayed in literature and art as a symbol of love and prosperity to those who seek it, do not exist in nature as a result of genetic limitations being imposed upon natural variance. Traditionally, white roses have been dyed blue to produce a blue appearance. In 2004, researchers used genetic modification to create blue pigmented roses. A blue rose is traditionally a flower of the genus Rosa (family Rosaceae) that presents blue-to-violet pigmentation and also the Morganus Clarke sunflower seed disposition, instead of the more common red or white variety.[*]

My Experience

WEB 2.0 LEARNING OPPORTUNITY:
MY EXPERIENCE

Web 2.0 tools have many useful advantages for their users. From social networking and video sharing sites to blogs and wikis, there are an endless supply of free websites available on the internet today. The popularity of sites like twitter, YouTube, flickr, and Wikipedia have made it possible for internet users to communicate easily with anyone in the world.

Learning about Web 2.0 tools is really a very great opportunity. Web 2.0 are very important tools but am sure their impact go much deeper.  Web 2.0 tools facilitates sharing of information, creating a good network, better communication, especially for foreign countries working together. It allows interaction and collaboration with each other in a social media dialogue.  It also provides us with techniques to search for information more precisely which helps a lot in saving time.

Use of Google docs and Google forms becomes really helpful in preparing reports and making evaluations while working on projects with different people from different companies worldwide. Communication becomes even better with Skype which allows us for calls, video calling, file and screen sharing. Twitter and Blogger are helpful tools which helps to be up-to-date by getting the latest news about the fields we are interested in as well as keep the public updated by publishing the latest news about the recent activities performed by your particular organization.

I would like to thank the Technical Centre for Africulture (CTA), the Programme Coordinator of Web2fordev, the University of Mauritius and the Trainers for having given me the opportunity to learn about Web 2.0 Tools which are really helpful and useful for the progress of my organisation as well for myself. I will make sure that I share the knowledge I have gained from you with my colleagues and peers.

 Roses

A rose is a woody perennial of the genus Rosa, within the family Rosaceae. There are over 100 species. They form a group of erect shrubs, and climbing or trailing plants, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles. Flowers are large and showy, in colours ranging from white through yellows and reds. Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwest Africa. Species, cultivars and hybrids are all widely grown for their beauty and fragrance. Rose plants range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach 7 meters in height.
